ABOUT US

I have had Labs for most of my  life. I grew up in a small farming community in Freeland, Michigan. I received my first Lab, Heidi, a black lab that was a gift to my dad from my uncle when I was 12. I was so impressed with her beauty, quiet calm demeanor, eagerness to please, and most of all her intelligence. It was about this time that I was introduced to the Maxwell family tradition of Pheasant Hunting. What a great bird dog she turned out to be! My best memories growing up were centered around these hunts and it became apparent that the dogs had at least as much fun (probably more) as we had! There is a very special special bond and sense of pride that forms between men (fathers and sons) and their dogs. I still remember the first ring neck I shot behind Heidi 34 years ago as if it were yesterday! She worked that old rooster like a Pro. Even though it doubled back on us, my grand dog  never lost the trail - her tail and intensity ever increasing the closer we got. The bird was flushed on my side and I made a successful shot. She retrieved the bird to me with her tail wagging. The dog smiled. Dad smiled. I smiled. We loaded up in the pick up truck with Heidi in the back seat and drove home. We didn't say much on the way home. We didn't need to.  I knew that we were all lost in the magical moments of that fall afternoon. Moments like these will never be forgotten or lost. Moments that I want others to share. I was very lucky to have such a great example of what a Lab should be and it's these same exact qualities and reasons why I breed labs today!
We are a small family kennel located in Midland, MI. All of our dogs are our pets and live in the house with our Family. You can rest assured that any puppy you receive from us has received the utmost of care and socialization.
